Vaccination Drive by Tata Steel Foundation to Combat COVID-19

Malda, December 13, 2021: In an attempt to mitigate the threat of COVID-19 pandemic and extend support to the local communities residing in and around Gandalpada & Kalmong villages under Guali and Malda Gram Panchayat, Tata Steel Foundation with support from the District Administration has commenced a community vaccination drive.

The vaccination drive was launched on December 6, 2021 at Malda Panchayat Bhawan. Under this initiative, more than 275 people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccines so far. The vaccination drive is an effort to support the nation’s campaign to alleviate the horrors of the pandemic through proper vaccination of its citizens.

Sharing her experience, Mandira Naik, a resident of Dehurisahi says, “Initially, I was very apprehensive to take the vaccine but later I spoke to medical experts from Tata Steel Foundation and they were able to clear my doubts which gave me the strength to get myself vaccinated.”

“To enable equal opportunities and maintain the quality of life for the local communities lies at the core of the vision of Tata Steel Foundation. The vaccination programme will thereby ensure that in this age of a growing pandemic our local communities from marginalised areas are provided with timely intervention and the best possible protection from the disease”, said Sanjay Sardar, Unit Head of the Tata Steel’s CSR Division at Kalmong and Gandalpada.
