TPSODL empowers its Business Associates with various skill development programs and employment opportunities

~Initiative to benefit outsourced employees~


Berhampur, 19 February 2022: In an effort to uplift and provide better growth opportunities, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha Government, for power distribution in Southern Odisha, has launched various social security, employment and skill development initiatives for its Business Associates (BA).


With an aim to extend financial assistance and social security benefits, TPSODL has ensured the following:


· Mandatory coverage of all BA employees under Group Personal Accident (GPA) policy coverage of ₹ 15 Lacs

· Mandatory coverage of all BA employees under Special Covid Insurance policy of ₹ 5 lacs to the legal heir(s) of deceased BA employees (in case of death due to Covid- 19)


TPSODL has also launched a unique scheme called ‘Udaan’to enhance the professional skills of the BA. This scheme is especially for those BA who have completed their education till 8th class, are under 40 years of age, and have been associated with the company for five consecutive years. The company will set up professional training centres under Skill India Initiative, the flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The centre will provide theoretical and practical training as per Distribution Lineman under National Skill Development Corporation’s Power Sector Skills Council curriculum. After completing the course, the participants will be awarded a Skill Certificate under NSDC-PSSC for the Power Distribution Sector. Additionally, the BAs who secure a minimum of 45 percent marks, can appear in the recruitment process for employment if they meet the other eligibility criteria.


Apart from this, the company has also decided to provide employment opportunity to the qualified and long serving outsourced employees working under various Business Associates as Operations Trainee and Office Assistant Trainee. Any individual who has worked with an existing BA deployed at TPSODL, secured minimum 45% marks in written exam and qualified in a Personal Interview is eligible for employment for either of the roles.
