TPCODL celebrates International Women’s Day; calls for gender equality

Bhubaneswar, 9th March 2022: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, observed Women’s Day yesterday celebrating success and achievements of its women employees. On this occasion, TPCODL also called for accelerating gender parity in all walks of life in line with this year’s theme for International Women’s Day ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’.


International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Company’s Corporate Office and five circle offices in presence of all women colleagues and Independent and courageous women personalities as Guests. While eminent Odishi dancer Guru Meera Das along with Mrs. Sumi Shenbagam joined all participants at the Company’s Corporate Office, Ms VedKumari, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Cuttack, Dr.BhaswatiPattaink, Professor &HoD. - Department of Psychology, Utkal University, Ms Golap Nanda, Odia writer & Poet, Ms Subhashree Panda, Senior Inspector, Capital Police station, Bhubaneswar and Ms Pritiparna Mishra, Tahsildar, Kujangjoined the celebration at various circle offices.Women colleaguesworking in various new challenging roles shared their experience and hurdles they faced in their journeys and how they overcame those to enjoy their new opportunities & exposure.


The TPCODL team also celebrated Women’s Day with trainees at the Women Literacy Centres started by the Company’s corporate social responsibility team at different slums in Bhubaneswar. 10 such centres are being run by TPCODL currently with each centre imparting literacy courses to 20 uneducated women from local communities.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M Shenbagam, Chief Executive Officer, TPCODL, expressed his sincere gratitude to all women colleagues for their extra ordinary contribution towards serving the consumers.He also said, “TPCODL believes in equal opportunities to all and follows a strong policy of gender diversity and inclusion. In our journey to ensure reliable power supply to all consumers, we will opt for all possible opportunities to empower the women of our society for their overall socio-economic growth.”
