TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd. conferred with the ‘State Level Electrical Safety Award 2021’
~ Maiden award organized by the Engineer-In-Chief (Electricity) cum Principal Chief Electrical Inspector, Odisha~
Berhampur, 9th December 2021: Prioritizing the wellbeing of employees and surrounding communities by creating a safe and inclusive environment is one of the important practices implemented by TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPSODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha. Acknowledging this effort, the Engineer-In-Chief (Electricity) cum Principal Chief Electrical Inspector (PCEI) recently organized its maiden ‘State Level Electrical Safety Award 2021’ which recognized TPSODL for ‘Best Electrical Safety Practices’ in FY2020-21 in the utility category.
This state level safety award was announced by the Honorable Minister, Energy, Industries, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Odisha Capt. Dibya Shankar Mishra in a virtual inaugural event during 2nd National Electrical Safety Week 2021. After evaluating the safety practices being followed at various Generation, Transmission, and Distribution companies operating in Odisha, TPSODL was declared winner for its ‘Mission Zero Harm’ initiative.
Team TPSODL is working for creating a safe workplace and achieving consumer safety in its operations. To achieve this, fresh avenues are being explored and strategies are chalked out for further enhancement of safety performance. The concept called “Mission Zero Harm” is being implemented with utmost priority for establishing injury free workplace in daily operations. This is being achieved using technologies as an enabler and with focus on hierarchy of risk controls. Active and enthusiastic employee participation and is the key feature of this initiative.
For this, TPSODL’s safety team submitted a detailed application delineating existing safety practices in the organization. A total of 26 parameters were included in the application which encapsulated the quick journey towards “Mission Zero Harm” that TPSODL has covered within a short span of time.

This recognition is a testament of our strong commitment and determination to create a culture of safety in our organisational activities. It has been possible due to the attitudinal change towards safety practices amongst our employees. Within a short span of time, we have ensured safety rigor in our work culture. This accolade will keep us motivated in the long run for maintaining similar standards in the future,” said Mr. Arvind Singh, CEO, TPSODL.
