Tata Steel Mining Limited awarded 'Excellence in Biodiversity' at CII ITC Sustainability Awards

Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) has been honored with the 'Excellence in Biodiversity' management award at the CII ITC Sustainability Awards 2022 for its exceptional efforts in conserving biodiversity in the areas surrounding its operations. The award was presented to TSML's Senior General Manager, Rajarshi Palit, by Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Wednesday.

TSML's community awareness programs like Prajatiya Khadyotsav, Green Therapy, Jaibakala Vividhata, and conservation measures for the local silkworm species Sukinda Ecorace, butterfly garden, and Medicinal park, were highly appreciated by the assessors of the award. The company's Managing Director, Pankaj Satija, expressed his gratitude to the jury for considering TSML for the award, which recognizes the team's efforts towards the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable operational practices.

Conserving and enhancing biodiversity is an integral part of TSML's corporate strategy, and it strives to mainstream biodiversity in all its strategic and operational decisions.
