Tata Steel Mining Elevates Industry Knowledge with Bhubaneswar Knowledge Sharing Session


August 31, 2023 - Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) took a significant step towards advancing mining engineering knowledge by hosting a technical session on "Quality of Resource Estimation: impact on the assessment of productivity through mine-mill reconciliation" for the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI). MEAI, renowned for its dedication to the mining engineering field, gathered industry experts, professionals, and enthusiasts for this insightful event aimed at exchanging valuable insights and expertise.


The session attracted a remarkable turnout, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seizing learning opportunities. The primary objective was to provide a platform for knowledge dissemination, networking, and collaboration, ultimately fostering the growth of mining engineering in the region.


Distinguished speaker Dr. Abani R. Samal, Principal at GeoGlobal, LLC, Utah, USA, graced the session with his wealth of experience, research findings, and innovative ideas. Dr. Samal covered a spectrum of crucial topics, including the mining value chain, mineral resource and reserve estimation, variabilities in grade tonnage estimates due to interpolation parameters, and the pivotal role of resource and reserve models' accuracy.


Pankaj Satija, Managing Director of TSML and Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Chapter of MEAI, emphasized, "This event underscores our commitment to enhancing the knowledge and expertise of mining professionals while promoting responsible development within the mining industry. Discussions revolved around crucial topics such as sustainable mining practices, technological advancements in mineral extraction, environmental conservation, safety protocols, and community engagement.


The Mining Engineers Association of India - Bhubaneswar Chapter - remains dedicated to organizing knowledge-sharing initiatives on a regular basis.
