IIA Odisha Chapter Hosts "EVOLVE" Design Workshop for Architecture Students

Bhubaneswar, 3 Feb: The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Odisha Chapter proudly announces the successful completion of a landmark architectural design workshop, "EVOLVE DESIGN," started on February 3rd Feb and will be concluded on 4th Feb, 2024, at Kalabhoomi, Bhubaneswar.

This one-of-a-kind event brought together over 150 students from various prestigious architecture colleges across Odisha, including NIT Rourkela, VSSUT Burla, OUTR Bhubaneswar, PMCA Cuttack, KIITS School of Architecture and Planning Bhubaneswar, Sri Sri University Cuttack, and Suddhananda Group of Institutions. Under the guidance of more than 25 eminent architects from the state, the students participated in an intensive design workshop aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in architectural practice.

The workshop served as an instant internship program, providing students with a unique platform to engage directly with celebrated architects of the state. Through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, participants gained valuable insights and practical experience, contributing to their professional growth and development.

A highlight of the event on the second day is the Architecture and Music Fusion Workshop, featuring a mesmerizing performance by Dr. Anita Kulkarni, an architect-cum-dancer from the El Dorado Group, USA. This fusion of architectural and musical elements added a creative dimension to the workshop, inspiring participants to explore interdisciplinary collaborations and innovative approaches to design.

The distinguished mentorship team included senior and eminent practicing architects such as Ar Ratnamala Mishra, Ar Tara Prasad Dhal, Ar Debendra Parida, Ar Sabyasachi Mohanty, Ar Narayan Tripathy, Ar Subhakankhi Choudhury, Ar Alok Ranjan Sahu, Ar Minakshi Rath, Ar. Smruti Snigdha Sahani, Ar Kirti Yogadarshini, Ar Snehashis Tripathy, Ar Swagat Jena, Ar Debi Sahu, Ar. Ruchipurna Jena, Ar Namrata Prasad, Ar. Soumyajit Mishra, Ar Anusuya Tripathy, Ar Yogesh Rekhani, Ar Bhakti Prasad Mohapatra, Ar Shiba Prasad Rath, Ar Saumya Ranjan Behera and many others. Their invaluable guidance and expertise not only enriched the learning experience of the students but also contributed significantly to the promotion of architectural education and profession in Odisha.

Ar. Swopnadutta Mohanty, Chairperson of the IIA Odisha Chapter, expressed her gratitude to all participants, mentors, and partners for their unwavering support and commitment to excellence. She highlighted the workshop's role in fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning contributing to the all-round growth of the state.

The workshop will be concluded with a valedictory function, where the top-performing groups will be recognised and mentors, as well as heads of architectural schools, will be honoured for their significant contributions.

The "EVOLVE DESIGN" workshop stands as a testament to the IIA Odisha Chapter's dedication to advancing architectural education and practice in the state. Through such initiatives, the chapter continues to inspire and empower the next generation of architects to shape a sustainable and vibrant built environment.
