Day 3 of “Pinkprint” - International Conference of Women Architects Concludes with Celebration of Heritage, Excellence, and Tribute to Architecture

Bhubaneswar, 10 November 2024 – The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Odisha Chapter successfully concluded the third and final day of the “Pinkprint - International Conference of Women Architects,” held in Bhubaneswar, bringing together a global community of visionary women architects. The concluding day featured a rich tapestry of events, awards, and celebrations in honor of the conference’s theme: the recognition of women’s contributions to the field of architecture and the celebration of architectural heritage.

The day began with an early morning heritage walk to the historic Chausathi Yogini Temple, the architectural inspiration behind the conference’s logo, followed by an exploration of Ekamra Kshetra. Delegates from around the world participated in this walk, delving into Odisha’s ancient architectural marvels and drawing inspiration from their beauty and cultural significance.

Following the heritage walk, the conference resumed at Hotel Swosti Premium Puri, where the Valedictory Session recognized the achievements of several notable architects. Chief Guest Mr. R. S. Gopalan, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, and Guest of Honour Mrs. Mridula Thakur Pradhan, joined dignitaries, delegates, and attendees to celebrate the outstanding contributions of architects who have shaped and enriched the field.

Chairperson of IIA Odisha Chapter, Ar. Swopnadutta Mohanty, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizing team and dignitaries, as well as to the distinguished guests from across the globe. The prestigious awards presented during the session included:

               •             Ar. Otto Koenigsberger Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 – Awarded to Ar. Rabi Narayan Mohanty

               •             Ar. K.B. Mohapatra Award 2024 for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Architecture – Awarded to Ar. Mohan Kotamrazu

               •             Ar. Adikanda Biswal Legendary Award 2024 – Awarded to Ar. Rama Chandra Padhi

               •             Ar. Saurashtra Das Young Architect of the Year Award 2024 – Awarded to Mr. Mayukh Sanyal, PMCA

Additional awards recognized the talents of other dedicated architects, including Ar. Shaswat Sekhar Sarangi, Ar. Acharya Suvalaxmi Pattajoshi, Ar. Nilanjana Roy & Ar. Avik Roy, and Ar. Atulya Suhula & Ar. Rosalin Patra.

The event concluded with a unique fashion show themed “Monuments in Motion,” where professional women architects of IIA Odisha Chapter paid homage to the timeless beauty of global architecture through the art of fashion. This creative presentation celebrated architectural forms and traditions, blending culture with contemporary design.

As a final tribute to Odisha’s heritage, the chapter organized visits to Sri Mandir and the Konark Temple for the delegates, allowing them to experience the region’s cultural depth and historical richness firsthand.

The success of “Pinkprint” stands as a testament to the achievements of women in architecture and their dedication to both modern and traditional design. The IIA Odisha Chapter extends its deepest gratitude to all participants, organizers, and contributors for making this event a memorable and impactful experience.
